Where is Higher Ground located?
Higher Ground is based out of Rome, GA but works throughout the southeast and in select locations both nationally and internationally. Visit the Locations page for more information.
How much outdoor experience do I need?
None. Zip. Zilch. Zero. No prior experience is required for any of our activities. We adjust all of our programs based on the experience level of the group.
Will I be forced to participate in an activity that scares me?
No. Higher Ground adheres to the Challenge of Choice philosophy in adventure programming. Challenge of Choice holds that participants are the ones who are ultimately responsible for choosing the level of challenge that’s right for them.
Should I have my own equipment?
No. Higher Ground provides all of the major gear and equipment. Participants are only responsible for clothing and personal items.
How much does an HG experience cost?
Not as much as you might think. Since programs are custom-built around the specifics of each group though, the pricing does fluctuate. Give us a call and we can talk through some options with you.
What size group can Higher Ground accommodate?
We work with groups of all sizes. Some groups are as small as 6 people, while others are over 100. Each group size brings with it its own set of opportunities and considerations. Call today to discuss the possibilities for your group.
Does Higher Ground only work with “Christian” groups?
No. Higher Ground works with all types of groups, “Christian” and “Secular”.
Are programs offered year-round, or only during the summer?
We’re here all year. Spring and fall are some of the best times of year for a mountain adventure, and believe it or not, winter is not out of the question either. In many cases we can make adjustments to programming to compensate for seasonal conditions.
Is my donation to Higher Ground tax-deductible?
Yes. Higher Ground is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. All donations are tax deductible and will be receipted at the end of each year. Visit our Donate page for more information on supporting Higher Ground financially.

The Participant Experience
Right now I would be doing jumping jacks to in front of my tent, diving into my sleeping bag and then doing crunches to warm myself up, and yet somehow I miss it.
